The father of Osteopathy, W. G. Sutherland, is best known for viewing the human body as a sophisticated "machine" believing that dysfunction or impairment in one area was bound to compromise the entire structure. This concept of Microsystems has been researched and proven since ancient times by many traditions. Treating the body as a whole is the main principle to help its innate wisdom to self correct.
In many traditions of Osteopathy and Craniosacral we learn that each bone in our body holds memories, tension build up that creates fascial restrictions that in the long run impair the physiology of our body.
As an example, the Frontal bone relates to Denial and Blame. What does this mean to us? The Frontal bone holds our conscious mind and has the tendency to be in constant control of our thoughts. It doesnt allow our subconscious to express itself and represses it. Because it fears the unknown, it creates fear to control our mind.
Dr John Upledger, father of Craniosacral Therapy, explained: "Frontal lobes tell us that through meditation and development of trust, pre ordained pathways are developed. We can perhaps assist their evolution past the stages of fear of the future and unknown by meditation and trusting. Forget control."
